Samkoon HMI “Modbus RTU” Mitsubishi FR E720 Tutorial

Hello friends!
Mitsubishi E700 Series inverter is one of the most commonly used inverters on the market, it supports all basic types of inverter control including Modbus-RTU protocol.

Today plc247.com will guide you to use the Samkoon HMI (Model SK-070HS) to control the Mitsubishi FR-E720 inverter via Modbus-RTU, both of which have a built-in RS485 Communication Port.

Samkoon HMI & Mitsubishi FR-E720 “Wiring Diagram”

+ Below is the wiring diagram between HMI Kinco SK-070HS and Mitsubishi FR-E720 VFD.

Note: Use a 120Ω terminal resistor if the communication distance is long

Mitsubishi FR-E720 Modbus Parameters Setting

To be able to control the inverter via Modbus-RTU protocol, we need to set the following communication parameters:

+ Pr117: 1 (Slave Address)

+ Pr118: 96 (Baudrate 9600)

+ Pr119: 0 (8bit, stop bit = 1)

+ Pr120: 2 (Even)

+ Pr121: 9999

+ Pr122: 9999

+ Pr123: 9999

+ Pr124: 1

+ Pr340: 1

+ Pr549: 1

+ Pr79: 2 (Last Setting)

Mitsubishi FR-E720 Modbus Register Address

Note: Proface HMI – Mitsubishi FR E700 VFD
HMI Address Using = VFD Address – 40001

>>> Motor Control Address = 40009 – 40001 = 8

  • Set Word “8” = 2 >>> Forward Run
  • Set Word “8” = 4 >>> Reverse Run
  • Set Word “8” = 0 >>> Stop

>> Frequency Setting Address = 40014 – 40001 = 13

+ Output Frequency Address = 40201 – 40001 = 200
+ Output Current Address = 40202 – 40001 = 201
+ Output Voltage Address = 40203 – 40001 = 202
