Delta HMI “Modbus RTU” Danfoss FC51 Tutorial

Although the VLT FC51 inverter is a small capacity inverter, it has great performance, is designed with a compact size and is easy to install and operate in tight spaces. The VLT FC51 inverter is set to perform flawlessly even with high-end, complex applications. In addition to the basic control types, Danfoss FC51 also has a built-in RS485 port to control it with “Modbus RTU”

HMI Delta DOP-107EV is one of the popular models of Delta Electronics, today will guide you to use it to control Danfoss FC51 Inverter by Modbus RTU (RS485) Communication.

Note: Use a 120Ω Terminal Resistor if the communication distance is long

Danfoss FC51 Modbus Parameters Setting

In order for Danfoss FC51 to be controlled by Modbus RTU, in addition to the basic parameters of the inverter installed according to the motor (Voltage, Frequency, Current…) we need to install additional communication parameters as follows

+ Set Word C34F = 1148 (dec) >>> Forward Run
= 33916 (dec) >>> Reverse Run
= 1084 (dec) >>> Stop
= 1212 (dec) >>> VFD Reset

>>> Frequency Reference Address = C359 (Hex)

  • Frequency Reference = 0 to 16384(dec) ~ (0 to 100%)

>>> Output Voltage Address = 3EF7 (Hex)
>>> Output Frequency Address = 3F01 (Hex)
>>> Output Current Address = 3F0B (Hex)

DOP-107EV Modbus RTU Configuration

We need to set the communication parameters of Delta DOP-107EV to be the same as those of Danfoss FC51 Inverter.
