DELTA DVP 14SS2 “Modbus RTU” Omron E5CC Tutorial

In the previous post, showed you how to use Delta PLC to control many types of inverters via Modbus RTU communication using the PLC’s RS485 communication port. Today I will show you how to use it to control Omron’s E5CC thermostat.

Omron E5CC is the most common type of temperature controller worldwide, and of course it supports Modbus-RTU. 1 PLC can control up to 32 E5CC with distance up to 1200m.

Below is a wiring diagram for Delta PLC and Omron E5CC, if the communication distance is > 50m, a 120.Ohm terminal resistor should be used.

Omron E5CC Modbus RTU Setting recommends that you configure according to the parameters below to be the most stable:

Looking at the table above we can see:

+ SV (Set Value) Address = 2103 (Hex)

+ PV (Present Value) Address = 2000 (Hex)

After selecting the communication parameters, the software will automatically create the following program (You can also programming the same program manually)

DVP 14SS2 Programming

+ Automatic Read/Write Distribution

+ Set Temperature Command (Set SV)

+ Read Temperature Present (PV)
