Because many people use Mitsubishi inverters for the first time, they do not know how to set up the basic parameters to control the inverter and how to connect the inverter control with the teminal pins to run and change the speed with an external rheostat. This article will guide you in detail so that you can install and use Mitsubishi inverters yourself.
1. Reset to Factory Default parameters
To be able to change the parameter or allow the setting parameter to be displayed, you need to change the following parameters first:
- Pr 77 = 0 (for E700, S700, D700)
- Pr 160 = 0 (for A700, F700)
- Change control method on PU side: Pr 79 = 1
Reset the Inverter: AllClr = 1, PrClr = 1

3. Installation of basic applications and wiring
Below is the wiring diagram of Mitsubishi inverter
3.1 Frequency setting by switch (3 speed levels)
+ In this application we will use the STF, STR, STOP, RH, RL, RM, SD pins.
- In which STF connected to SD is forward running, STR connected to SD is running backwards, STOP connected to SD is stopped, RH connected to SD is select high speed set at parameter Pr.4, RL connected to SD is run average speed is set in parameter Pr.5, RM connected to SD is running at low speed and speed is set in parameter Pr.6
- To select the inverter to operate in this mode first press PU/EXT and MODE for 0.5s. On the display “79 – – ” appears and the PRM indicator flashes.
- Turn the knob until “79 – 4”. The PU and PRM indicator lights flash.
- Press SET to confirm the setting
+ Select the setting frequency by using 3 switches RH, RM, RL. Example turn on RL switch to run at low speed
+ Press RUN to start running
+ Press STOP to stop
+ Turn off the RL switch to remove the low speed operation mode
3.2 Set frequency by analog input ( Variable resistor or PLC)
- Press PU/EXT and MODE for 0.5s. On the display “79 – – ” appears and the PRM indicator flashes.
- Turn the knob until “79 – 4”. The PU and PRM indicator lights flash.
- Press SET to confirm the setting
+ Press RUN to start running
+ Rotate potentiometer slowly to change speed (change frequency). When rotating the potentiometer with the maximum frequency of 60 Hz (This frequency can be changed through parameter Pr.125)
+ Press STOP to stop
3.3 Frequency setting from the control panel of the inverter
- Press PU/EXT and MODE for 0.5s. On the display “79 – – ” appears and the PRM indicator flashes.
- Turn the knob until “79 – 3”. The PU and PRM indicator lights flash.
- Press SET to confirm the setting
+ Frequency setting Rotate the knob to select the desired set frequency value. The frequency parameter will flash for 5s. During that time, press SET to set the frequency value. If you don’t press SET, after 5s flashing, the frequency value indicator will return to 0 Hz. Research training center
+ Turn the STF (forward) or STR (reverse) switch ON to start
+ Turn the switch down to OFF to stop
