HMI Kinco “Modbus RTU” Hitachi NE-S1 VFD Tutorial

Hello everyone, continuing the series of articles using Kinco HMI to control different devices via Modbus RTU protocol, today plc247.com will guide you to use it to control Hitachi NE-S1 inverter.

The HMI model used is Kinco MT4414TE (other models with RS485 port do the same) connected to the FUJI Frenic inverter via RS485-2 wire communication.

+ Below is the RS485 connection diagram between Kinco HMI and Hitachi NE-S1 . inverter

Hitachi NE-S1 Modbus Parameters Setting

To be able to control and monitor the Hitachi NE-S1 inverter, we need to set the following parameters for the inverter:

+ SW5 “Modbus RTU” Selection
Hitachi NES1 Registers Address
Note: Kinco HMI Holding Registers Address =
“VFD Address (Dec) + 400001
Coil Address =
“VFD Address (Dec) + 000001

>>> VFD Frequency Set Address = 1 + 400001 = 400002

>>> VFD Start/Stop Address = 0 + 000001 = 000001
VFD Direction Address = 1 + 000001 = 000002
VFD Error Reset Address = 3 + 000001 = 000004

>>> VFD “Ready Status” Address = 16 + 000001 = 000017
VFD “Running Status” Address = 18 + 000001 = 000019
VFD “Alarm Status” Address = 23 + 000001 = 000024

>>> Frequency Output Address = 4097 + 400001 = 404098
Current Output Address = 4098 + 400001 = 404099
Voltage Output Address = 4112 + 400001 = 404113
