Monitoring and storing temperature in factories and machines is increasingly necessary in today’s factories, today plc247.com will guide you to use the Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1400 PLC to connect and control Omron E5CC Temperature Controller
The PLC model plc247.com uses is MicroLogix 1400 “1766-L32BXB” and Omron “E5CC-RX2ASM-802”. You must use Omron E5CC Controller with R485 support to be able to use Modbus-RTU
MicroLogix1100 & Omron E5CC “Connection Diagram”
+ You can use Module 1763-NC01 to easily connect or connect directly to the RS485 port of MicroLogix 1400 (MiniDIN 8Pin – Female)
+ If the communication distance is >50m, there is no need to use a 120Ω Terminal Resistor
Omron E5CC Modbus RTU Configuration
To be able to control Omron E5CC with “Modbus RTU”, we need to set the parameters as shown in the table below:

Note: MicroLogix 1400 Address = “VFD Address (Dec) + 1“
>>> Set Temperature Address = 2103 (hex) + 1
= 8451 (dec) + 1 = 8452
>>> Read Temperature Present Address = 2000 (hex) + 1
= 8192 (dec) + 1 = 8193
MicroLogix 1400 “Modbus-RTU” Setting
We need to configure the communication parameters for the PLC to be the same as those installed for the E5CC Controller
