Danfoss FC302 inverter is an extremely modern inverter with excellent quality, intelligent LCD interface that helps users to set and observe parameters easily. Danfoss FC302 also supports many different types of communication including Modbus RTU (RS485 port built into the inverter).
Today plc247.com will guide you to use Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1100 PLC to control Danfoss FC302 via Modbus RTU communication standard. With this type of communication, we can control and monitor the inverter easily and from a distance up to 1200m max.
MicroLogix 1400 & Danfoss FC302 “Wiring Diagram”
+ Use Module 1763-NC01 for easy wiring or you can also connect directly to the RS485 Port. of the PLC.
- Pin A = Pin 5 = RS485-
- Pin B = Pin 4 = RS485+
Danfoss FC302 “Modbus RTU” Parameters Setting
The table below is the communication parameters and the modes to be set to be able to control Danfoss FC302 with Modbus RTU

Note: MicroLogix 1400 Address = “VFD Address (Dec) + 1“
+ VFD Control Address = 49999 + 1 = 50000
- Set Word 50000 = 1148 (dec) >>> Run Forward
= 33916 (dec) >>> Run Reverse - Set Word 50000 = 1084 (dec) >>> Stop
- Set Word 50000 = 1212 (dec) >>> VFD Reset
+ VFD Speed Write Address = 50009 + 1 = 50001
(Speed Reference: “0 to 100%” = “0 to 16384”)
- Output Voltage Address = 16120
- Output Frequency Address = 16130
- Output Current Address = 16140
- Output Speed Address = 16170
MicroLogix 1400 “Modbus RTU” Configuration
