The Danfoss FC302 is an extremely high quality, versatile inverter suitable for all applications from simple to complex. Danfoss FC302 supports all drive control methods like I/O, Ethernet, Profinet/Profibus, and today plc247.com will guide you to control it with Modbus-RTU.
Today plc247.com will use Kinco HMI (Model MT4414TE) to control Danfoss FC302 inverter via “Modbus RTU” communication protocol.
HMI Kinco & Danfoss FC302 “Connection Diagram”
I use COM.0 port (RS485-2 wire) of HMI Kinco to connect to Danfoss FC302 inverter, maximum we can control up to 32 devices.
Danfoss FC302 Modbus Parameters Setting
To be able to control the Danfoss FC302 inverter with Modbus RTU, we need to set the following communication parameters for the inverter:
Danfoss FC302 Registers Address
Note: HMI Kinco Holding Registers Address =
“VFD Address (Dec) + 1“
>>> VFD Control Address = 49999 + 1 = 50000 (dec)
- Set Word 50000 = 1148 (dec) >>> Run Forward
= 33916 (dec) >>> Run Reverse
= 1084 (dec) >>> Stop
= 1212 (dec) >>> VFD Reset
>>> Set Frequency Address = 50009 + 1 = 50010 (dec)
- Speed Reference Setting = 0 to 16384(dec) ~ (0 to 100%)
+ Voltage Output Address = 16120 (dec)
+ Frequency Output Address = 16130 (dec)
+ Speed Output Address = 16170 (dec)
HMI Kinco “Modbus RTU” Configuration
We need to configure the communication parameters of Danfoss FC302 inverter and HMI Kinco the same:
HMI Programming
+ Main Page Design
+ “VFD Ready” Status
+ “VFD Running” Status
+ “VFD Alarm” Status
+ VFD Reset Command
+ VFD Speed Setting
+ Forward Run
+ Reverse Run
+ Stop
+ Read Frequency Output
+ Read Voltage Output
+ Read Speed Output
