TIA Portal “You must restart your computer before you can run setup” Fix Error

This is a very annoying error for everyone when installing Siemens TIA-Portal software. Surely everyone has restarted as required, but when clicking install, the message continues to appear. So many people contact plc247.com asking me how to fix it, today I would like to share with you how to fix the error message “Please restart Windows before installing new programs” or “Please reboot before installing any more programs”.

Below is the error displayed when you install the software depending on the different version

Instructions to fix Please restart Windows… TIA Portal

+ Step 1: Open the Registry Editor by simultaneously pressing the “[Windows] + [R]” buttons >>> Enter “regedit” in the input field and click OK.

+ Step 2: In the Registry Editor you navigate to the path “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager”
>>> Check whether the value name “PendingFileRenameOperations” is in the path.

+ Step 3: Delete the entire “PendingFileRenameOperations” entry (not just the contents) and then close Registry Editor
>>> You start the program installation without prior restarting.
