PLC Inovance “Modbus RTU” Danfoss FC51 Tutorial

Hello friends, Danfoss FC51 inverter is a popular inverter series, very compact in size, suitable for all common applications such as pumps, fans, conveyors, cooling towers, … the maximum capacity is 22kW, the biggest advantage of This inverter series is low cost.

It also has a built-in RS485 communication port suitable for control and monitoring by Modbus RTU (RS485). Today plc247.com will guide you to use PLC Inovance H3U-3232MT to control Danfoss FC51 through this protocol.

Danfoss FC51 “Modbus RTU” Parameters Setting

In addition to the basic parameters of the inverter installed according to the motor we use (frequency, current, voltage…) then we need to install the following communication parameters:

+ VFD Control Address = C34F (Hex)

  • Set Word C34F = H47C (hex) >>> Run Forward
    = H847C (hex) >>> Run Reverse
  • Set Word C34F = H43C (hex) >>> Stop
  • Set Word C34F = H4BC (hex) >>> VFD Reset

+ Frequency Reference Address = C359 (Hex)
>>> Frequency Reference = (0 to 16384) = (0 to 100%)

>>> Output Voltage Address = 16119 (dec) = 3EF7 (Hex)
>>> Output Frequency Address = 16129 (dec) = 3F01 (Hex)
>>> Output Current Address = 16139 (dec) = 3F0B (Hex)
